Every now and again, I overhear a snippet of a conversation when I am at a restaurant. Or standing in the checkout line at the grocery. And it’s not like I am trying to eavesdrop. Quite the contrary. But when I hear something that strikes a chord with me, I do sit up and take the proverbial notice.
A number of months ago, I overheard the snippet “You can’t live in the problem. You gotta live in the solution.”
Now, I not only heard a chord striking, I heard the entire orchestra playing. And when I thought a little more about it, I realized I’ve always believed there is a solution to every problem. It may not be the one you thought at first. It may not be the one you were hoping for. But there is a solution.
And if you play the “Woe Is Me” Game with the person in the mirror, and dwell on the problem, I believe you will never find your solution.
Falls under the category of “Strike up the band, Sam”.

Some folks see a problem as exactly that. A problem. Other folks see a problem as an opportunity. I happen to like the second approach. To me a problem is an opportunity to find a solution. I typically dislike cliche’s, but “the power of positive thinking” really does work. One just have to give it a chance.
